Description: The Three Forks Trail from Deer Park Campground to Three Forks is only 4.3 miles but descends nearly 2,500 feet from Grand Ridge to the junction of Cameron Creek, Grand Creek and Gray Wolf River. The trail begins in an open meadow with subalpine terrain and descends into a montane forest of trees and shrubs. There are views aplenty from the beginning of this hike. To the west, hikers will see the Grand Creek drainage, the Needles and Gray Wolf Ridge lie to the south.

Description: The Noisy Creek Trail is maintained annually by volunteer trail crews, but can be difficult to follow at times. The trail follows Noisy Creek on its eastern side for approximately one mile and ends at the creek shore. Noisy Creek provides good fishing. A Washington State fishing license is required for fishing in the National Forest. The end of the Noisy Creek Trail begins a favorite cross-country route to remote Green Lake and Berdeen Lake and the Noisy-Diobsud Wilderness. Upon entering the wilderness follow all wilderness regulations. Hikers entering the North Cascades National Park via Noisy Creek and planning to stay overnight must get a backcountry permit from the park headquarters in Sedro-Woolley.

Description: The hike up Dog Mountain is one of the area’s best and most accessible spring and summer escapes. The Dog Mountain Trail is a heavily used loop opportunity climbing rapidly in the first 0.5 mile. In this short distance, the trail gains 700 feet in elevation but past this point the trail levels off a little. The trail forks, giving hikers the option of heading north on the more direct, but steep route to the summit, or to the east for a longer but more gradual climb. The eastern fork of the Dog Mountain Trail climbs 2,000 feet over the next 2.5 miles, ascending to the site of a former fire lookout. A 1 mile loop trail to the summit provides easy access through flowered hillsides and offers an incredible view of the western portion of the Columbia River Gorge. You can also get superb views along the eastern fork of the trail, without having to climb all the way to the summit. The Dog Mountain Trail offers scenic views of the Columbia River Gorge from the prairie-subalpine steppe at the summit and is famous for its spring wildflower displays. You should arrive early since this trail is crowded on spring weekends.

Description: The Bluff Mountain Trail provides hikers with a choice of two routes to choose between two routes east toward Silver Star Mountain along the ridge. The eastbound trail follows the ridge and intersects Starway Trail after about the 0.5 mile. Proceeding along the ridge, the trail offers excellent views of the Portland/Vancouver metro area. After two miles, the trail drops down and runs south of Little Baldy Mountain. Continuing downhill, the trail turns north after approaching Bluff Mountain, then climbs steeply and follows an old road bed to Forest Road 41.

Description: Shadow of the Sentinels is a barrier-free interpretive trail winding through dense forest growth. Huge Douglas fir and cedar trees tower above a forest floor of ferns, moss and berry bushes. There are signs along the route explaining the dynamics of this 500-year-old ancient forest. The trail is constructed of asphalt and boardwalks with grades no greater than 8%.
