We've all seen the movies where a cowboy stops at a mountain stream, quenches his thirst with a few handfuls of ice-cold mountain water and continues on to catch the bad guys with only a gunfight slowing him down. Try this trick yourself and you might end up battling diarrhea , not outlaws. The great outdoors is rife with sediment, algae and more varieties of microscopic organisms than extras in a spaghetti western.
